BIBLICAL VIEWS OF MARRIAGE

MARRIAGE IS A GOOD THING:

The words of a man's mouth are deep waters;
the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook (Prov. 18:22).

MARRIAGE IS HONORABLE:

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous (Heb. 13:4).

Marriage is a thing of joy:

Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun (Eccl. 9:9;) Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, (Prov. 5:18).

MARRIAGE IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF HELPING ONE ANOTHER:

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. (Gen. 2:18).
Marriage is for the purpose of producing children:
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen. 1:26-28).

MARRIAGE IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRODUCING CHILDREN:

• Husband as the king and head of the family
• Wife as the queen of the family
• Children as the fruits of the family
• Maids, servants and regular visitors as part of the family
• Uncles; aunts; in-laws; nephews; nieces; etc are grouped under the extended family members.
