GOD’S WORD ON BUSYNESS
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING BUSY?
Proverbs 31:17, 2 . . . She is energetic and strong, a hard
worker. She carefully watches all that goes on in her household and does not
have to bear the consequences of laziness.
Ecclesiastes 11:6 . . . Be sure to stay busy and plant a
variety of crops, for you never know which will grow-perhaps they all will.
Rich harvests cannot come from lazy fingers. If we want fruitfulness in any facet of our lives, we must get busy now.
WHAT ARE THE DANGERS OF BUSYNESS?
Proverbs 19:2 . . . Zeal without knowledge is not good; a
person who moves too quickly may go the wrong way.
Psalm 39:6 . . . We are merely moving shadows, and all our
busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth for someone else to spend.
Haggai 1:9 . . . You hoped for rich harvests, but they were
poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my
house lies in ruins, says the Lord Almighty, while you are all busy building
your own fine houses.
Never confuse activity with accomplishment. Activity without God can come up empty-handed.
WHAT SHOULD I CONTINUALLY BUSY MYSELF WITH?
Psalm 71:8 . . . That is why I can never stop praising you;
I declare your glory all day long.
Hebrews 4:14 . . . That is why we have a great High Priest
who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never
stop trusting him.
Philippians 4:6 . . . Don’t worry about anything; instead,
pray about everything.
We can never have too much prayer and praise to God!
HOW CAN I FIND REST FROM THE BUSYNESS OF LIFE?
Exodus 34:21 . . . Six days are set aside for work, but on
the Sabbath day you must rest, even during the seasons of plowing and harvest.
Psalm 23:2 . . . He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads
me beside peaceful streams.
Psalm 91:1 . . . Those who live in the shelter of the Most
High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 145:5 . . . I will meditate on your majestic, glorious
splendor and your wonderful miracles.
God is both the model and the source of rest. As God rested after creation was finished, so he provides and encourages rest from our labors.
PROMISE FROM GOD:
Matthew 11:28-29 . . . Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of
you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will
find rest for your souls.”
